"Then you will know...
how much fun it is to go...
to the store that makes everyone merry,
Dingleberry's for youuuuu..." ((whip crack))

Dingleberry's was a local music store in Dayton, Ohio that was opened in 1974 by Greg and Bev Savage (daughters: Adrienne, Leslie [owner of shoppe smitten], and Staci).

The store was iconic to the Dayton music scene, a meeting place for music lovers and employed local music enthusiasts.

If you were a regular customer at Dingleberry's, one of the thousands who has fond memories of the store, remembers the jingle, the smell of nag champa as you walked in the door, remember the exceptional customer service and expertise of the staff, or perhaps you purchased your first vinyl, CD, or cassette from there.... Or if you camped out for Ticketron tickets or for an album release... or stopped in for a band's in-store appearance to grab an autograph....
Whatever the memories may be, may they live on this with iconic trademarked design, carrying you back to the days that may be a little {ahem} foggy...

Printed on a natural ivory, tri-blend unisex tee.

HISTORY:
Greg Savage got his start by booking bands when he was in high school and put on many concerts under the name Savage Productions. While working at a record store in high school, he thought he could build a better record store if only he could open his own shop. And he did-- in its heyday, Dingleberry's was the largest music store in the state of Ohio. It was the first retail store of any kind to play videos (as documented by Billboard magazine in 1978). In the days before MTV, Dingleberry's aired music videos made on Betamax tape and projected upon the huge (even by today's standards) screen mounted on the wall. The store was again credited in Billboard magazine in 1979 for putting on the Dinglejam, which was an in-store concert in which all the musicians and technical crew were employees of the store. Over the years, Greg and the store have won numerous advertising awards and Best of Dayton reader polls.

The store has been visited by many many bands and artists, sometimes for autograph signings and sometimes just to shop. Michael Jackson, Ted Nugent, Todd Rundgren, Charlie Daniels, Journey, Dokken, Queensryche, Poison, Pantera, the Cranberries, L7, the Melvins, to name a few.

After Greg's passing, the original Dingleberry's location in Centerville on St Rt 725 was closed and for the following few years, the oldest daughter, Adrienne, carried on the business by operating the Yellow Springs location.

Now years later, the middle Savage daughter, Leslie, continues in Greg's entrepreneurial footsteps as she owns and operates shoppe smitten, and unique gift and apparel shop, aptly located on the corner of St Rt 725 and 48 in Centerville, just one mile from the location of Dingleberry's. (Leslie is the younger blonde in the Dingleberry's staff photo).
